    52nd GST Council Meeting : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman-led GST Council is set to meet next month for the 52nd GST Council meeting.

    • The meeting will be held on October 7, 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. This will be around two months after the 51st GST council met on August 2 and discussed 28 per cent tax on online gaming, casinos and horse racing.

    After the last GST Council meet, it was clarified that the 28 per cent tax (announced in 50th GST Council meet) will be levied on entry level and not on every bet placed.

    FM Sitharaman had said that they are hopeful of implementing tax on online gaming starting October 1, 2023.

    The council had also agreed to come back after six months to review the way in which this (28 per cent GST rates on casinos and online gaming) is getting implemented, the finance minister had said after 51st GST council meeting.
